Gary Perinar is a RHP with a 6'1'', 200 lb. frame from Shorewood, IL who is a 24 year old released professional player. Slow paced leg raise delivery, hides ball effectively, high 3/4's release point, hard front side on landing, upright release. Primary fastball pitcher, consistent big league average to plus fastball, occasional cutting action, tends to leave FB up due to hard front side. CB flashed sharpness, occasional split type change up. Obvious arm strength, Definitely AA arm

Gary Perinar: Perinar is a 6-2 senior right handed pitcher from Illinois who we have seen several times. He threw exceptionally well at the Indoor Showcase and keeps making big strides moving his game up. Perinar topped out at 93 mph with his fastball and threw a number of 92’s as well. He showed very sound pitching mechanics with a smoother than ever arm action and spotted his fastball down in the zone consistently. Perinar looks like he’s worked hard on his overall body strength and conditioning and it’s showing with the power in his pitches and his overall athletic actions. Perinar’s 78 mph slider was sharp and his 80 mph change up had some real quality to it. Perinar has signed to attend Minnesota but is sure to get plenty of attention from the pro scouts this spring. He has to be considered one of the top pitchers in the entire midwest at this time. His ranking nationally will be much higher next time they come out. Gary is a very good student.

We liked Perinar’s projectable body and loose arm and the chances for his getting even better in the future. He throws from a mid ¾’s release point and got good running action on an 86-89 mph fastball. Perinar presently tries to throw a curveball, but from his release point and arm action coming over the ball, that’s virtually impossible and Perinar should ditch his 64 mph curve and concentrate on his slider. He has the arm speed and looseness to make this a quality pitch without changing his release point and losing the nice action he gets on his fastball. At 6'0/175 he may not be overly attractive to MLB scouts right now, but he can pitch at most any college in the country. After a successful college career we would expect him to enter professional baseball. Gary is an excellent student.
