Mike Gonzalez is a 2009 SS/OF, 2B with a 5'10'', 145 lb. frame from Dade City, FL who attends Bishop McLaughlin HS. He has a thin, athletic build and good body life. He is a 7.20 runner who has quick feet on defense and soft hands. His arm strength is below average and he'll have to work on shortening and quickening his release to play middle infield at the next level. Offensively, Gonzalez hits from a spread stance and has little trigger to start his swing. Most of his contact is to the opposite field. His line drive swing plane and some hand quickness should produce plenty of base hits but he'll need to develop some rhythm to the ball. Gonzalez is a very good student.
