Kyle Stroup is a 2008 RHP with a 6'5'', 230 lb. frame from Ingleside, IL who attends Grant HS. He is a big framed athlete with lots of present strength and the potential for more as a firms up his build. Stroup throws from a high effort delivery with some drop and drive to the plate and hard pull off the plate on release. He lands closed and has some cross body action at release. Stroup is a pretty good athlete who showed that he could repeat his delivery and maintain some consistency around the strike zone but his delivery will need some maintanence and work. His raw stuff was very good. Stroup's fastball was heavy at the plate with some running action and was up to 92 mph. His low 70's curveball had very good depth with a tight bite to it. He threw both a straight change and a split change and showed an idea and presence on the mound that was nice to see in a young power poitcher. Stroup also showed some power at the plate with the bat and an idea how to hit.
