Greg Larpenter is a 2009 OF/IF/RHP from Urbandale, Iowa, with a 5'6", 142 lb. frame. He showed very good arm strength from the outfield with plus arm speed. He had very good actions, and tracked balls well during showcase games. Larpenter also showed his quick arm on the infield with accuracy, and had good footwork and hands. Offensively he has a short and compact swing with a quick bat. Larpenter uses a short stride and has a line drive swing plane. He centers the ball well and made consistently solid contact to all parts of the field. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot on the mound with an easy arm action and good arm speed. Larpenter has smooth mechanics with a slow and easy delivery. His fastball topped out at 75 mph, and his curveball was 60 mph. He threw his curveball for strikes, and it was a solid pitch for him with good depth. Larpenter has all of the tools to be a top prospect in the years to come. He is a must follow.
