Matt Hobgood is a 2009 RHP/1B with a 6'4'', 240 lb. frame from Norco, CA who attends Norco. Hobgood has a taller body with a thick strong build. Defensively, Hobgood has good actions at first base and moves well around the bag. He has a very strong arm across the infield with very good carry on his throws. At the plate, Hobgood has good raw power potential with a lot of strength in his swing presently. The ball jumps off his bat and he gets very good extension out front. He has a lot of good raw hitting tools to work with. Hobgood throws 88-90 from the mound but did not pitch at this event and would have graded higher.
