Harold Martinez is a 2008 SS/3B with a 6'3'', 185 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Braddock HS. He has a lean athletic build with excellent strength projection and is often compared to a young Alex Rodriguez physically. Martinez is an average runner (6.89 in the 60) but every one of his other tools grades out as plus/plus or right near the top of the scale. He's an outstanding defensive infielder with easy, fluid actions and arm strength that only ranks behind Ethan Martin in the 2008 class. Defense comes very easily to Martinez and watching him play second base, a position that is probably pretty unfamiliar to him, during games and make big league plays with flair and little effort was exciting. Offensively, Martinez received a "10" grade in every evaluation by PG scouts at the National Showcase. He has a calm pro style approach at the plate and explodes his hands through the ball with excellent bat speed. He showed big power to right centerfield in batting practice and turned around a couple of pitchers throwing 93-94 mph in games with solid contact. He is timed for fastballs at this point and will struggle some with off speed pitches but his explosion and bat speed is exceptional and will play better the higher he gets. Martinez is one of the top players in the 2008 class and has a great future. Selected to 2007 Aflac All-American team.

Harold Martinez is a 2008 SS/3B with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame from Miami FL, who attends Braddock HS. He has an excellent athletic frame, with an ideal combination of size, looseness and strength. Martinez wowed everyone at the National Underclass the previous week and was almost as good at this event. Defensively, he was better. Martinez has top level big league arm strength and threw 94 mph during drills with minimal effort. Martinez may or may not have the foot quickness to play shortstop at the upper levels but he'll be a gold glove type third baseman. He makes difficult plays look routine and is extremely balanced and smooth in all aspects of his play. Offensively, Martinez shows the same type of balance and smoothness, along with plus bat speed and big power potential. He didn't quite have the swing fundamentals, espeically in his hands, that he had the week before but when it all comes together on his swing the ball explodes. Martinez has moved himself up to near the top of the 2008 class. He'll be fun to watch develop.

Harold Martinez is a 2008 SS/3B with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame from Miami FL, who attends Braddock HS. He has a tall, very athletic build that has been comapred to a young Alex Rodriguez. He was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. Martinez has exceptionally smooth and easy actions on the baseball field, especially on defense. He projects best at third base and that's where we saw him play the most. His hands work effortlessly, his release is quick and he has a cannon arm, maybe the top in the entire 2008 class. His defensive tools are Gold Glove caliber. Martinez really opened our eyes with his offensive tools, however. He showed easy plus bat speed and excellent power potential, with very good lift and extension in his swing. He uses his hands to hit and the ball explodes off his bat with authority. Martinez is quiet in his approach and has swing fundamentals you wouldn't want to touch, so what he's really figuring out right now is timing and pitch recognition. Overall, Martinez has improved tremendously in the past year and has put himself among the elite position prospects in the 2008 class.
