Harold Smith is a JC OF/2B with a 5'10'', 171 lb. frame from Palmetto, FL, who attends Manatee JC. Harold has an athletic build and showed nice fast-twitch tools at the showcase. He has a short quick swing that produces its best contact to the middle of the field. During the games Harold was able to center the ball well and really drove the ball hard consistently. Harold will drive the ball hard consistently but needs to work on his balance some and improving his approach at the plate. In the outfield Harold has good range and nice raw arm strength. He struggled with his accuracy, but has the tools to play any position in the outfield. Harold is a solid player that could attract the attention of many high-level Division I programs.

Harold Smith is a 2006 OF/2B from Palmetto HS in Palmetto, FL, with a 5'9", 163 lb. frame. He has outstanding speed and first step quickness that defines all parts of his game. He ran the 60 in 6.49, which is actually a bit slow for Smith and unexpected given the fast surface at the National. Smith has excellent base running instincts and is an aggressive base stealer. He shows very good arm strength from the outfield at 84 mph and plus/plus range in centerfield. He can close up the alleys very quickly. Offensively, Smith has a very simple approach, with low hands in his set up, a wide stance and little load or weight shift to the ball. He has good strength and whip in his hands and makes consistent line drive contact. Smith has surprised us with his pop on occasion in the past but his game is more to keep making consistent hard contact and let his speed work for him. He's a prototype leadoff hitter who can impact a game when he gets on base.

Harold Smith is a 2006 OF/2B from Palmetto, Florida, with an athletic 5'9", 162 lb. frame. Smith has a great set of present tools, and it all starts with his speed. He ran the fastest 60 at the event (6.56), and ran consistent 4.4 times from home to first. He translates that speed well to game situations where he is a plus runner with great instincts on the bases, and shows good range in the outfield. Smith also threw from the outfield and tied with the fourth best velocity with throws of 85 mph. Smith gets carry on his throws with good arm action and accuracy. Offensively, he is a right handed hitter with a balanced swing and a gap to gap approach. Smith showed very good bat speed at times from a lower hand set. He shows the ability to hit the ball to the opposite field, and he doesn't try to do too much. Smith has a great combination of tools that translate well to his game. He isn't just a player who can run and throw. Smith can play and is a must follow.

Harold Smith -- Smith is a live bodied athlete who showed us good skills as well as MLB tools. He's a very good runner who ran 6.85 on the sponge in Fort Myers (probably a 6.6 or better on a decent track) who we got in 4.2 down to first base. Smith hits from a wide, no load stance with good bat speed and an opposite field type approach. He showed us good ability to make solid contact. Smith is a primary outfielder with the speed and arm strength to be a very good centerfielder. He’s also played some second base in the past. Best part is he's only a sophomore and his tools match up with some of the better seniors in the country. He is a must follow for high level colleges and MLB scouts.

Good "04" athletic OF with plus running ability and a good arm. Lots of raw skills that could develop. Needs to play and hit against good pitching. He has a chance to become a very good player.
