2007 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Daniel Brown is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 5'10'', 155 lb. frame from Raleigh, NC who attends Broughton HS. He has a medium build with some wiry strength. Brown is a good overall athlete with live body actions. He throws from a complicated full back turn delivery with a long and deep arm action and an overhand release point that has some fall off to first base. Brown's delivery has some deception and he repeated his release point pretty well. His fastball was steady at 83-84 mph. Brown's curveball had true 12/6 break because of his release point and had good spin when he got out front with it, although he did tend to leave it up in the zone. He also showed a good feel for a change up. Brown shows some promise as an outfield prospect as well. He has a very strong arm and shows advanced fundamentals on defense. Brown hits from a very spread stance at the plate with a max effort swing that generates very good bat speed, if not good bat control. He blasted one ball off the RCF fence that was the hardest hit of the showcase. Brown is an excellent student with physical tools to develop. He was named to the Showcase Top Prospect Team.
