Mickelangelo Santana is a 2008 MIF with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Bronx, NY who attends Fordham Prep. He has a long limbed, athletic build that is very similar to former big league second baseman Jose Lind. In fact, Santana had a lot of Jose Lind type actions to take the comparison further. He looked a bit awkward at shortstop moving towards the ball but really excelled at second base. He has a feel for defense and plays with a flair. He has very quick hands and can get rid of the ball quickly from any release point. Santana has some strength in his bat that he showed when he stayed down through the ball and didn't pull off early. He has some bat speed and very good extension in a slashing line drive swing. He hit best against the better pitching he saw when he kept things short and quick. Santana is an interesting prospect, he has athletic ability and some skills and plays with emotion and confidence. He is also a good student.
