Sam Walker is a 2008 OF with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Shreveport, LA who attends Calvary Baptist. Sam is a slender and athletic player who plays very hard. He has a very good defensive approach in the outfield, and takes himself to the ball well. He does a good job coming through the ball and getting his body into his throws, and they are on the bag. His arm speed is there, and his top velocity from the outfield was 78 mph. Walker is also an effective offensive player who runs well. He ran a 7.15 sixty during the workout, and he looks to use his speed on the bases. He gets out of the box quickly every time and puts pressure on the defense. With the bat he hits from a straight stance and strides to closed. He makes consistent solid contact, and looks to pull the ball with good whip in his stick. He stays very compact and will look to shoot the ball to the opposite field. Sam is also a very good student.
