Ian Thomas is a 2005 LHP from Virginia Beach, Virginia, with a 6'3", 175 lb. frame. He has a long and lean body with sloped shoulders and a good pitcher's frame. Thomas has good mechanics with college level arm speed. His body should get much stronger and his sound mechanics and on line stride makes you think his velocity should only get better. His fastball topped out at 81 mph, while he mixed in a curveball at 58 mph, and a 62 mph change up. Thomas had good command of all his pitches, with his fastball and change up being his best pitches. He drops his elbow on his curveball and tends to push it, thus the low velocity. He still has good command, but hitters at the next level will be able to wait back on it. He is a fastball and change up type pitcher with good arm speed on his change up. Mechanically his arm works well with a clean arm arch and good out front release with a low finish. Keep an eye on him, he should continue to add velocity to his fastball, and be very good at the next level.

Ian Thomas is a 6'3", 175 lb. left handed pitcher from Virginia Beach, Virginia, with a very athletic pitcher's body with long arms and strong legs. With room to add more strength, he should continue to develop physically. Ian showed an 81-84 mph fastball, 63 mph curveball, and a 68 mph change up. Ian throws from a mid to low 3/4 release point with a little cross body action, and releases the ball way out front. He tends to drop his elbow some on his off speed pitches, which detracts from the quality of his breaking ball. Ian's arm speed is very good on his change up,, and this pitch could develop into a solid high level pitch. Ian has all the ingredients in place to improve significantly and has a very projectable body. He's a DI lefty!
