Jared Bladen is a 2007 SS/2B from Chamberlain HS in Tampa, FL with a 6'0", 165 lb. frame. Jared has a lean wirey build with developing raw power. He hits from a calm tall approach with good bat speed and he drives the ball to all parts of the field. Jared projects well at the plate and should hit for power at the next level. In the field, Jared has good footwork and a solid arm. He looked a little nervous at times during the showcase, but he will be able to overcome this with time. He could projects well as a third baseman in the future. Jared is an outstanding student with quite a bit of projection. He should attract the attention of Division I colleges throughout the country.

Bladen is a slender 5-11 junior middle infielder from Florida. Defensively, Bladen is solid. He has good defensive actions with nice quick feet and smooth hands. Bladen showed good range and made a real nice barehand play from third base in game. Bladen showed 77 mph arm strength in the workout. At the plate, Bladen hits from the left side of the dish with a medium to wide stance. Bladen has a no load, no stride simple approach. Bladen has a nice short swing path and shows quick hands at the plate. Bladen will continue to improve as his body matures. Bladen is an excellent student.

Bladen is a very young left handed hitting sophomore infielder from Florida. You can tell by watching him that he’s going to be a very good player when he’s older but he has a very young body right now that needs strength. Bladen ran the 60 in 7.63 and threw 73 mph in infield drills. His game throws were solid. Where strength and maturity are really going to help Bladen is in his swing. He has a very nice, smooth cut right now that lacks everything but the pure bat speed to drive the ball. Bladen sets up balanced and stays balanced throughout and showed the ability to adjust to different pitches and use the whole field. Bladen also has a bit of lift in his swing for future power potential. Keep an eye on him as he gets older. Bladen is also a very good student.

Jared Bladen is a very young 2007 infielder from Tampa, Florida, that shows very good potential to become a solid player. His 5'10", 145 lb. frame has time to mature and become much stronger. Defensively, he flashes a very quick transfer/release which compliments his 68 mph arm from shortstop. At this point he projects as a second baseman, but with added arm strength and foot speed can play at shortstop. He hits from a wide base with a short stride and slight weight transfer into contact. He shows a slight hand wrap and his swing gets long at times with an uppercut plane. He does show a nice quick approach with above average bat speed. We like his attitude and the way he plays the game. With maturity and some mechanical help, he can become a promising player.
