Philip Spencer is a 2008 RHP with a 6'2'', 178 lb. frame from Woodbridge, ON who attends Holy Cross SS. He has a medium athletic build with good length in his arms and legs. Spencer throws from a full elivery with a long and loose arm action and a high 3/4's release point. He maintains a very good downhill angle to the plate and gets nice extension out front. One thing he needs to work on mechanically is to get better direction to the plate, he tends to fall off towards the first base side and is inconsistent on his release point. Spencer's fastball was steady at 82-84 mph and was pretty straight. His curveball showed signs of developing into a very good pitch when he gets consistent with his release point, it was sharp and big when he stayed over top of it. We didn't see a change up. Spencer is a young 2008 pitcher with a good arm and has a bit of ceiling in him. Follow him for more improvement.
