Rago is one of the top prospects in the northeast as a 2005 OF. He has a strong, athletic 6'2"/200 pound body. Although hobbled by a sore ankle, he showed tremendous athleticism in the outfield with his routes to the ball and outstanding catches. He topped out at 87 mph from the outfield with excellent acuuracy. He didn't run the 60 in Wareham, but we've seen him at 6.93 at the National Showcase at Tropicana. He has a strong, aggressive swing from a wide base. He has a quick bat and generates huge bat speed. He showed great power, hitting 2 HR's in batting practice and a 400 foot shot during the games. His speed, size, and power make him a possible good draft pick and major Division I player.

Jason Rago is a MLB bodied 6'2/200 OF from Fairfield, CT. Rago is a big boned yet live bodied outfielder with a very high ceiling. He has serious bat speed and natural loft to his swing and is also an above average defensive outfielder. He runs well and has a MLB RF arm that registered 89 mph in Tropicana Field. He even ran MLB ave H-1 times. He has big power potential but his present approach is geared to line drives to all parts of the field. He has quick hands and plenty of strength to hit the ball hard to the opposite field. He's a very good big strong athlete who can play at the highest levels of college baseball. His size and tools will create lots of scouting interest as well. Jason was invited and attended the PG AFLAC Showcase in Baltimore.

Jason Rago -- Rago is a very strong bodied junior outfield from Connecticut. He has nice, smooth athletic actions as well and is one of those prospects that scouts can recognize right when they step off the bus. Rago certainly was one of the top couple of defensive outfielders at the showcase. He has a very strong, accurate arm that he used both in workouts and to throw runners out in games. Rago gets very good jumps on the ball as well and takes good routes and although he isn’t a true sprinter type, he runs very well. He might be the type whose skills enable him to play centerfield at the next level. Rago’s bat definitely plays at the college level already. He has a tall stance with high hands and a nice load. Rago’s bat is quick to and through the zone and he looks like he has some polish to his hitting approach. This is just a good, well rounded and athletic prospect. Should create some pro interest.

Rago is a hard hitting outfielder who had, at 6 foot 1 and 190 pounds, one of the strongest bodies at the Showcase. He emerged as one of the best Prospects for the Major League level at the underclassmen showcase. He ran very well for a big power hitter at 7.27 on a slow track and throw with 86 mph velocity with good carry. His actions in the outfield are very good. He is a player ! His bat is his best tool and he showed Big League bat-speed and power presently. He can flat out hit and crushed any ball that was in the strike-zone for extra bases. He owned the top power bat and was one of the best overall prospects in the showcase. Watch him very close, he is a very good 2005 prospect with a special bat.
