Jason Taylor is a 2006 OF/MIF from Floyd Kellam HS in Virginia Beach, VA, with a 6'1", 195 lb. frame. Taylor is a very good athlete who combines speed and arm strength and the ability to play defense all over the field. He ran the 60 in 6.69 and was 4.42 down to first base from the right side. Taylor has very good arm strength at 86 mph and is still learning how to reign in his arm strength and make accurate throws, perhaps a function of playing multiple positions. Taylor is listed as a primary outfielder but he's also played plenty of infield and we were impressed with his actions on the infield defensively. He should definitely keep playing infield as much as possible. Offensively, Taylor has very good bat speed. He has a nice weight shift to the ball, with high hands and wide stance and shows the potential to really develop some power in the future. The ball jumps of fhis bat with authority now. With his raw tools and athletic ability Taylor has a great upside. Sleeper who could end up really surprising some people.

Jason Taylor is a 6'0", 185 lb., 2006 shortstop from Virginia Beach, Virginia, who can hit and run. Jason showed very good arm strength in the infield with 85 mph velocity. He had quick, clean transfers and very quick releases, with true shortstop actions. In the outfield, Jason showed the same arm strength with good carry on his throws. His actions in the outfield where not as smooth as those at shortstop. Jason is a right handed hitter with a medium to wide stance, and a no load approach. He shows very good bat speed with college level hand strength, and stays balanced and squares up on the ball well. He has a gap to gap approach with some raw power. Jason has a line drive swing plane with room to add lift and long ball power in the future. Jason is a good looking hitter, a very good 2006 prospect, and he should continue to improve.
