Andrew Giobbi- C- Deering HS, Portland, Maine- 6'2"/215. Giobbi was very good behind the plate with several pop times under 2.00 with his best at 1.95. He also showed his arm strength throwing 81 mph from behind the plate. Offensively, Giobbi took a good BP, but he looked even better in the games when he went 3-5 with a triple and 2 RBI. He has the defensive skills and the bat to be very successful at the next level. A good student he has signed as part of a great Vanderbilt recruiting class. He will get draft interest but could develop into an early pick out of college.

Giobbi is a 2005 from Portland, ME with a thick, strong 6'1"/210 pound body. He brings tremendous defensive tools, receiving well, good feet, and a quick release. He has good lateral movement with excellent blocking skills. He has a huge arm from behind the plate topping out at 81 mph with lots of carry. He popped a 1.97 during the games. He hits from a balanced stance, with a level swing and an extended finish. He generates a lot of bat speed, which creates a big powerful swing. He hit 2 balls well over the 400 foot centerfield fence in batting practice. He is an outstanding catcher and definitely a be a big time power prospect. Andrew is a very good student.

Andrew Giobbi is a strong solid 6'1/210 catcher from Deering, ME. Giobbi is one of two top prospects from Deering HS in Maine, along with SS Ryan Flaherty. Giobbi is super strong but keeps his swing short and quick and hit the ball very well at Tropicana. He has outstanding power potential and good bat control. He has a big time arm but could shorten his release from behind the plate. He's a highest level prospect both because of the defensive tools and the hitting tools. Should create some good interest in next years draft. Andrew is a very good student.

Andrew Giobbi -- We’ve seen this junior catcher from Maine a number of times and really like his talent and the way he plays the game. Giobbi is a strong, well muscled young man whose biggest challenge won’t be getting stronger but maintaining and improving quickness. Giobbi’s arm strength is solid big league average to plus but he is somewhat mechanical in his release and lower body movements. We’ve had him in the low 1.90’s before on his workout pop times. At the plate, Giobbi starts off with his hands and elbow high but like many New England hitters, has a Jeff Bagwell style hand hitch and little stride. Giobbi has excellent strength in his hands, generates very good bat speed and the ball jumps off his bat. Giobbi’s best swings against live pitching are when he takes hard pitches to the opposite field with authority. He’ll have plenty of time and opportunity to learn how to pull and loft the ball in games. Giobbi is a very good student and a great "05" catching prospect.

Giobbi is a top notch catcher who showed a high level of all around ability. He is a 6 foot 1 and 205 pound backstop with some of outstanding actions at the position. He blocked, threw and hit like a top prospect. His body is a very good strong one, he has mobility behind the dish and soft hands receiving. He popped a 2.04 at the bag with a low posture and good solid mechanics with accuracy. His bat was dominant and it showed the potential to be drafted in 2005. He displayed a big swing under control with natural power and he flat out hit every pitch he swung at a long way. Giobbi owned one of the top overall bats in the showcase and he was selected to the Top Prospect game. He could not attend but easily would have hit in the meat of either teams line-up. Andrew is an excellent student.
