Jeff Stephenson is a 2006 RHP/OF from U. of San Diego HS in San Diego, CA, with a 6'2", 180 lb. frame. Stephenson impressed the Perfect Game staff with his work on the mound. He had a balanced and smooth delivery with good finish on all of his pitches. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot and gets good life on his fastball with sink. Stephenson's fastball topped out at 83 and it is easy to project him throwing with more velocity in the near future. He also mixed in a sharp breaking slider at 79 mph that is used as a strikeout pitch. When a runner does get on base, Stephenson is very quick to the plate keeping runners from getting any kind of a jump. He also showed his arm strength from the outfield, and had good range in RF. There is strength in his swing from the right side. He hits from a crouched stance with good leverage and plus bat speed. Stephenson has a slight loft in his swing, and shows present raw power. He is a good two way prospect that needs to be followed. Stephenson is also a very good student.
