Jeff Van Doornum is a 2006 infielder from Huntington Beach HS in California, with a slender 6'2", 170 lb. frame. He is polished defensive outfielder with very good arm strength and advanced instincts. He ran the 60 in 7.24 but we've seen him run much faster than that and his instincts give him plus range in the outfield. Offensively, Van Doornum has a patient approach at the plate and does a very good job of using his hands in his swing. He has a line drive swing plane and the ball jumps hard off his bat. He has deceptive strength for his present build and is going to just keep improving as he gets stronger. Van Doornum is a very good student and has signed with Hawaii.

Jeff Van Doornum is a 2006 infielder from Huntington Beach HS in Huntington Beach, CA, with a 6'2", 170 lb. frame. Van Doornum was named to the Top Prospect Team at the event, and was invited to the National Showcase based on his performance. He has good athletic ability with good overall skills. He is a right handed hitter with plus bat speed and present raw power. He took a great BP and hit a HR to CF in the showcase games and ripped several other balls. Van Doornum doesn't take a stride, but he throws the bat head well and has great hands and wrists at the plate. He will be a middle of the order hitter at the next level who can hit for average and power. Defensively he has very good actions with soft hands and a very strong arm. He was gunned at 86 mph during the workouts, but we think he was throwing even better during the games. He made some very tough plays look easy. Van Doornum has a lean frame with room for additional strength. He is a must follow for top Division I colleges, and pro scouts should see him next spring. Van Doornum is also a very good student.

Jeff Van Doornum is a 2006 infielder/outfielder from Huntington Beach, California with a lean projectable body at 6'1", 165 pounds. He hits from a solid base with good balance. He has a line drive swing plane and generates good bat speed. He has good bat control and hits hard line drives to all fields. He centers on the ball very well and makes consistent hard contact with serious power potential. The ball jumps off the bat. Defensively, Van Doornum has nice hands and feet, with good fielding mechanics. He looked comfortable in the outfield showing a much stronger arm. He threw 83 mph from the outfield with good accuracy and carry. He is a very good hitter with a projectable body, and he should be a high level prospect. Jeff is a good student.
