Andrew Gudmunson -- Gudmunson is a 6-6 junior infielder/pitcher from Minot, North Dakota, where they generally do not play baseball in January. He’s got a great athletic body with lean strength throughout. His pitching mechanics keep him from throwing harder than 78-79 mph on his fastball but there should be plenty more arm strength there with some adjustments. He lacks any extension from his long arms and gets no lower half involvement from his strong legs and hips. At the plate, Gudmunson has a full and hard swing and the ball jumps on contact. He tends to drift forward significantly towards the ball and this creates some contact and swing length problems but Gudmunson could have plus power potential with some adjustments. We liked the way that Gudmunson played the game and he’s a very good student off the field as well. Midwest schools should pay close attention to this prospect because he could have a high ceiling in both roles. 6'6 guys who run MLB average are very rare. Andrew's 7.1 on the very slow track equates to 6.9 or better in normal conditions.
