2005 Sunshine West Showcase
Jens Wilson is a 2006 middle infielder from San Juan HS in Blanding, Utah, with a 5'10", 150 lb. frame. Wilson is very athletic with a muscular build, but had a tweaked hamstring that affected his overall speed. He still ran a solid sixty time on a slow track, but he looks like a plus runner. Defensively Wilson has very good actions with good footwork and soft hands, and showed the ability to handle either middle infield position. On slow rollers he showed great body control with an accurate arm. Offensively he is a switch hitter with a quick bat from both sides, and is a patient hitter with knowledge of the strike zone. Wilson hits from an open stance and made solid contact to all fields and showed the ability to make adjustments with his hands at the plate. We would love to see Wilson run at full strength, but he still has a great all-around game that should play well at the next level. Wilson is also a very good student.
