Spencer Venegas is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 6'3'', 197 lb. frame from Costa Mesa, CA who attends Mater Dei. Venegas has a medium sized frame with a good lean build. Venegas pitches froma 3/4 slot with a long arm action. He has a loose arm and his arm works well. The ball comes out of his hand easy and he has a good live arm. Venegas has a high leg kick at balance point and uses tall and fall style mechanics. His front hip leaks a bit and his mechanics are a bit raw yet. Casas pitches on a down plane and gets occasional armside run on his fastball. He throws a curveball on an 11/5 plane and it gets some bite to it. He also throws a change-up that gets sink and armside run to it. There is more in there with a few adjustments to his mechanics. He has projectable velocity and could develop into a very good pitcher. Venegas is an outstanding student.
