2004 Underclass National Showcase
Joey Hron -- Hron is a junior outfielder from Louisiana who had one of the most projectable bodies at the showcase. Not only is Hron 6-3, 185 lb. with long, loose features, he’s already an average big league runner with good arm strength, so the "tool scouts" are going to really like him. Hron hits from tall no stride, no load approach that doesn’t do his natural talents any favors, in our opinion. He generates very good bat speed but it’s a singles/contact approach on a young man who is going to be tall and strong with above average leverage. There’s a lot more here offensively, especially in power potential, than Hron is showing right now. He's a good athlete and a top level hitting prospect. Hron is an outstanding student, as well.
