Rusin is a 6-2, 185 lb senior outfielder from New York. He's a 7.14 runner in the 60 and showed impressive range in the outfield during the showcase games. Rusin threw 77 mph during outfield drills and is a good overall defensive outfielder. At the plate, Rusin generates very good raw bat speed and showed his power potential both in batting practice and during the games. He has good lift and leverage to his swing. Rusin takes an aggressive, full cut at the ball and tends to pull hard off the ball before contact. When he gets a pitch he can pull the ball jumps off his bat but he's very susceptible to pitches on the outside half. Rusin is a very good overall athlete who is a "big play" baseball player, whether it be hitting the home run or making the diving catch. He should keep improving with more experience. Good follow. Rusin is also an outstanding student.

John Rusin is a 2006 outfielder from East Amherst, New York, with a very projectable 6'2", 187 lb. frame. Defensively he has good actions in the outfield with a good throwing motion. He stays behind the ball well and gets solid carry on his throws. Rusin is a right handed hitter with athletic actions, and good bat speed. He gets good leverage in his swing with extension that produces present college level raw power. Rusin has a short and compact swing with a slight lift. He shows consistent gap power now with wood, but it is easy to see him gaining more strength and hitting the ball a long way. Rusin can improve the weight shift in his swing to allow him to use all of his body in his swing. He sometimes gets off balanced and his lower half is negated from his swing. Rusin has very athletic actions and a projectable body. His best baseball is still ahead of him, and he is a solid follow. He is also an outstanding student.
