P.J. Fandetti is a 2005 catcher from Weston, Florida, with a 5'10", 175 lb. frame. Defensively he has a very quick arm and very good arm strength (80 mph) that helped produced consistent sub 2.00 pop times. Fandetti will be real solid defensively at the next level. At the plate he shows bat speed, and simple swing mechanics. He has good balance and used his strength well in batting practice. He looks comfortable behind the plate, and works well with the pitchers. He is a good catch and throw catcher who can help contain a running game. Fandetti is a top student who has signed with Samford.

John Paul Fandetti is a 5'10" catcher from Weston, FL, who had some of the fastest pop times at the showcase. He has a very strong arm, but also a quick, compact release and was as low as 1.86 in workouts and 2.09 in games. At the plate, Fandetti has some good hand strength and made consistent line drive contact. He could really improve his overall hitting by improving his weight transfer, as he’s an early strider who spends most his lower body momentum well before starting his hands going through the ball. With a few minor adjustments he will play at a high level college program. Defensively he's already there! PJ is an excellent student.
