Jonathan Perez is a 2008 RHP/OF/IF with a 5'10'', 160 lb. frame from San Antonio, TX, who attends J P Stevens HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. Perez has a lean, athletic, and wiry frame with good projection. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with rhythmic rocky type motion. Perez has good arm speed that helps produce an 84 mph fastball with arm side life. He also mixes in a good curveball at 74 mph with depth, and a 75 mph changeup. Perez shows pitchability with present arm strength, and he allowed only 1 hit in 3 innings while striking out 5. At the plate he has a quick bat with projectable power. He centers the ball well and can drive it to all parts of the park. The ball jumps off his bat and he hit several bullets during the showcase games. Perez also showed his arm strength from the outfield with online accuracy. He moves very well in the outfield with good actions. Perez is a two-way prospect that must be followed. He is also an excellent student.
