Jose Cueto: Cueto was far and away the best prospect at the Unsigned Showcase. He’s a 6-2, 185 lb. athlete with very draftable tools and well above average grades and academic standing to boot. We understand that transferring schools twice in the very competitive Miami high school cost him playing time and exposure during his senior year, thus his unsigned status. Cueto’s bat speed and power are first rate, he’s a 6.85 runner and throws 91 mph from the outfield. Cueto also threw an inning from the mound and his arm strength carries over, although his pitching mechanics are very raw. He threw 86-87 mph when he kept his release point up and snapped off a couple of nice sliders in the mid-70’s. He can play and be a major factor at any Division I program in the country. Potential early pick out of college and he's an excellent student.

Jose was one of the top prospects at the sunshine east. He has some serious tools. He has a plus arm from the outfield at 90mph and ran a 6.81 in the 60yd. He has a good projectable body and he is very athletic. His bat has a little ways to go in order to catch up to his other tools, but if it gets to that level, look out,! Could be real good draft pick come next June. A big time prospect for 2004. Great tools!

04 Prospect with a very strong outfield arm and a great baseball build. He will end up being a plus runner, already has a plus arm, plus body and should hit in the plus range too. Knows how to play and is very athletic. Nice swing and lots of upside. Follow him closely.

Very good athlete with projectable body. Needs to be followed closely because he could develop into a top prospect.
