Josh Means is a 2007 RHP with a 6'3'', 185 lb. frame from Kennesaw GA, who attends Kennesaw Mountain HS. He has a tall athletic body and solid present strength. We've seen Means for many years, since we was a primary outfielder just starting to pitch, and this was some of the best raw stuff we've seen him with. Means throws from a balanced, calm delivery with a loose arm and a low to mid 3/4's release point. He repeats his delivery very well and has a very consistent release point out front. Means best pitch is his sinker, which at times has nasty plus, plus life to it. When you throw it 88-90 mph like Means did this outing and spot it inside and out, it's a very difficult pitch to hit with any authority. Mean's compliments his sinker with a big breaking 77 mph slider that has sharpness and that he spots very well. Means did not throw throw a change up and rarely does, which would be a nice weapon to add to his sinker/slider combination. Means has polished approach to pitching and works in and out well and when he keeps the ball down, he's going to win at just about any level with his present two pitches. He is a good student.

Josh Means is a 2007 right hand pitcher from Kennesaw Mountain HS, residing in Kennesaw, GA. He has a long, athletic body on his plus 6'3" 185 lb. frame. Means has the type of build that just looks the way a projectable right hander looks. He is good now and looks like he has a chance to continue to keep getting better. Means was ranked #36 among PG National Top 85 pitchers. Means pitches from a 3/4 slot with a long arm action. On the backside he takes his arm to deep extension and creates some leverage in his arm stroke. Means has some rhythm in his delivery. There is a bit of effort in his delivery but there is some more in there. Means showed a fastball in the 86-88 mph range with a touch at 89. His fastaball good sink and Means can work both side of the plate. He kept his fastball down and it was impressive that he seemed to focus more on pitching than trying to light up the guns. He can get a lot outs with his fastball. Means main secondary pitch is a 75-76 mph slider that had good lateral action and good spin. Adding some downward plane to the slider would be a good thing and it is something he looks plenty capable of doing. Means also swung the bat pretty well in the BP. He made good barrel contact and stayed inside the ball well, with good bat speed. His ability as a hitter spoke more to his overall athleticism than his future as a hitter. Means is a D1 college arm and should develop into a solid professional prospect during his college career.

Josh Means is a 2007 RHP/OF from Kennesaw Mountain High School in Kennesaw, Georgia, with a 6'3'', 185 lb. frame. He is a lean and athletic two-way prospect with great upside. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a loose and quick arm. Means has an effortless delivery with good extension and finish out front. His fastball gets unbelievable running action and heavy sink at 87 mph, and the ball jumps on hitters. Means also throws a sharp breaking ball at 70 mph that is filthy at times. The combination of a heavy fastball with great life and a filthy curveball makes him a must follow for 2007. Means is also good at the plate. He has a quick bat with strength and raw power in his swing. He stays balanced and gets great leverage at contact. Means has big time power projection and will be a middle of the order run producer at the next level. Means is a true two-way prospect with great upside. He is a must follow.

This was our first look at Means, a 6-3 sophomore outfielder from Georgia, and he moved quickly to the upper reaches of the prospect charts. He has a very athletic build, with wide sloping shoulders and a narrow waist and could get very, very strong by the time he’s an adult. Means is athletic for his size, with easy movements and good speed (7.15) underway. What this young prospect can do, though, is mash. He generates very good bat speed and has about as good of leverage at contact as you are going to see in a young hitter. He doesn’t overpower the ball as he might when he’s older but everything comes together at contact. Means hit some balls in BP that got out right away and swung the bat well in games, with perhaps a shorter path to the ball, which was nice to see. Means also threw 3 innings and while his future is in the batter’s box, he showed well on the mound. He has a deliberate and controlled delivery with some smoothness and balance. His fastball was 81-83, good velocity for a sophomore and he showed the willingness to work with a curveball, slider and change up. Top Follow!
