Josh Vierra is a 5'10" 170 pound 2007 infielder from Fairfield, California who has a strong compact body with room to add some weight. During the workout, he ran a 7.67 60 and threw 78 mph across the infield. He has good actions in the field with a plus arm and good hands. Josh has a sure quick release allowing him to get rid of the ball very quickly on double plays. At the plate, Vierra has a strong compact swing with the ability to drive the ball to all fields. He has a wide base and uses no stride but still generates good bat speed with some strength in his swing. He hit the ball well both days and ran aggressively on the bases. Josh is a good baserunner who never hesitates to take the extra base. He is an early in the line up type bat that can do the little things as well. Josh is a very good student and with the combination of his baseball ability will generate interest at many levels.
