TJ Costen is a 2011 SS/OF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Virginia Beach, VA who attends First Colonial HS. Medium build, good present strength. Explosive runner, 6.60 in the 60, have seen 6.41 before. Quick hands with the bat, good balanced base to hit from, rotational upper 1/2 swing, has present bat speed, ball jumps hard, handles the barrel well, high average type hitter, can reach the gaps, could loosen up lower half on swing. Quickness plays at both shortstop and centerfield, throws carry well, release a bit long both positions, too early to determine best position. Top level athlete with excellent tools and a very high ceiling. Good student, verbal commitment to South Carolina.
