Justin Dalles is a 2006 catcher/infielder from Lake Worth, FL with a strong thick build at 6-2, 200 lbs. He's a top level defensive catcher who combines tools with a great approach to the game. Dalles is a hustling, high energy player who takes obvious pride in working with pitchers and calling a good game. He has plenty of arm strength and his game pop times were very consistent with his drill times, both in the 1.95 area. Dalles is going to throw out some runners. Offensively, Dalles has a long, powerful swing with good extension and power potential. He showed his raw power potential and is the type of hitter that pitchers are going to have to pitch carefully to and not make a mistake. Anything he adds to a line up with run production and power will be a bonus to his defense and leadership. Dalles is a good student who has signed with Florida Atlantic.

Dalles is a junior catcher from Florida and one of the better catching prospects at the Showcase. He has a present strong body at 6-2, 200 lbs and athletic actions. Dalles graded out right near the top of the 450+ hitters we evaluated. He has very good bat speed with big time power potential. Dalles loads and coils very well and takes an aggressive, full swing while maintaining good balance. His power is mainly to right centerfield at present and he did blast one ball over the right fielder’s head in game action. He also showed some patience at the plate and a mature understanding of the strike zone. Defensively, Dalles was especially quick with his feet and did a very good job of blocking pitches. His pop times in workouts were comparatively slow but during games he was quicker with accurate, on-line throws. There is no problem with his arm strength. Dalles also pitched 3 innings and showed pretty good stuff. He throws from a drop and drive type delivery with a quick compact arm action, a high ¾’s release point and some effort on release. Dalles’ fastball was in the 82-85 mph range and his 69-71 mph curveball had nice biting action at times. He also threw a 75 mph change up. Dalles struck out 7 of the 10 hitters he faced. Overall, this is just a solid all around prospect who can play at any college in the country and should get some pro scouting attention. Dalles is also a good student.
