2005 Academic Showcase
Cotton is a 5-9, 160 lb middle infielder from Nebraska with good strength for his size. He ran the 60 in 7.31 and threw 80 mph in the infield drills. Cotton showed very good range and actions in both drills and in games. He does a good job of getting himself in position to field ground balls and works through balls well. Cotton’s arm was strong and accurate in the games. Offensively, Cotton hits from a balanced base with high hands in his load. He has a quick bat with good bat speed and some lift at the end of his swing. Cotton made excellent contact in batting practice and followed it up with three hits during the showcase games. Overall, Cotton doesn’t have one outstanding tool that jumps out at you but we didn’t see one weakness in his game either and he has the type of hustling, high effort type of approach to the game that maximizes his skills. He should develop into a very good college middle infielder.
