Jones is a 6-0 right handed hitting catcher from Maryland who also plays some third base. He has an athletic body with somegood strength projection. Jones is a good runner for a catcher at 7.16 in the 60 and shows some quickness behind the plate as well. He threw 73 mph during workouts with a low pop time of 2.14. At the plate, Jones hits from a narrow stance with bent knees and his hands low and tight to his body. He has a short, quick bat path to the ball and a level, line drive swing plane. Jones hit the ball consistently hard in BP and had some good at bats in the games, too. He’s a middle of the field contact type hitter. Jones also took a 2 inning turn on the mound, throwing 75-77 mph with a 62 mph curveball and 65 mph change up. Jones is a very good student.

Kevin Jones is a 2006 catcher/outfielder from Silver Spring, Maryland. At 6'0", 175 lbs. he has a good lean build with room for added strength. He showed very good hitting ability and mechanics, and is a line drive hitter with power potential. Jones is very athletic, runs well, and shows good instincts on the bases and in the field. He has a quick, accurate arm and good feet behind the plate. Overall he shows DI ability and projects very nicely. With some small advances in strength, all his tools will get even better. Very nice player with a bright future. Kevin is also an excellent student interested in strong academic schools.
