2005 Spring Top Prospect
Jones is a senior outfielder from Iowa with good strength throughout his body, especially in his lower half. Jones has played very well all spring in the Iowa Spring League and had a good showcase. He’s shown serious power in his bat to the middle of the field. Jones has a high hands in his setup and some drift towards the pitcher, which makes his hands a bit long to the ball, but when he gets them extended over the plate the ball really jumps off his bat. Jones is also a surprisingly good athlete for his size. He’s a 7.10/4.49 runner and played centerfield and showed a lot of range to the gaps on fly balls. He can probably play that position at the next level based on his instincts. Jones is a good student who should make a nice college level player in the future.
