Fernandez is a 6-2, 180 left handed hitting first baseman from Miami with a slender athletic body. He has also played some third base but his actions look smoother at first. Fernandez is a 7.50 runner who ran 4.50 to first base and showed quick actions on defense. Fernandez is a promising looking young hitter. He has a smooth, pro style approach and set up at the plate and has that loose, easy swing that he can only see on a talented left handed hitter. Fernandez generates good bat speed right now and it's going to keep improving as he gets stronger. He could develop very nice power in the future if he can harness his swing. Keep a close eye on him, he could get very good in the future.

Manuel Fernandez -- Fernandez is a lean and projectable sophomore first baseman from Miami with a sweet left handed swing. Fernandez looks like the kind of athlete who could end up 6-2, 190 lbs and be very strong. Fernandez hits from a slightly open stance and generates very good bat speed with a tension free line drive swing. He’ll get out on his front foot quickly on occasion and hit around the ball but he still looks good doing it. When Fernandez learns to stay back and trust his quick hands, he’s going to hit a ton of doubles and home runs. He moves pretty well around first base and should evolve into a good defender. Outstanding "06" hitting potential.
