Mark Morton is a 6'0", 200 lb. catcher from Coral Springs, Florida, with a strong body. Behind the plate Mark showed 2.14-2.28 pop time ranges with a top velocity of 76 mph. His arm strength is very good, but he rocks back in his release, slowing down his times. Mark is a right handed hitter with a medium spread stance and good balance in his swing. He shows very good bat speed with above average hand strength, and a short path to the ball. Mark hit especially well in the games against live pitching when they came inside on him. He is a pull hitter, but he has the hands to make the adjustments on outside pitches. Mark is a good student.

Mark Morton is a 2005 C from Coral Springs, FL. Morton is a solidly built catcher with good present strength and some good athleticism. He’s played at a very high level of high school baseball in Florida and it shows in his approach to the game. Morton’s defensive skills are solid. His arm strength is good and he showed the ability to make different types of throws in games. He tends to be somewhat of a straight up player both on defense and at the plate and this affects his pop times a bit but can be corrected. Offensively, Morton uses his hand strength well. He has a short swing and hits the outer half of the plate well and will hit the ball where it’s pitched. Morton made good hard contact in games as well as batting practice. Mark is a good student.
