Mathew Adams is a 2006 middle infielder from Palm Beach Gardens, FL with a slender projectable body at 6-1, 160 lbs. He ran the 60 in 7.10 and threw 81 mph during infield drills. Adams has smooth defensive actions in the middle of the infield and his hands and feet work smoothly. He has a quick release but some effort on his throws and will probably end up at second base as the game speeds up. Adams hits with a leg left trigger and a level swing plane that produces line drives up the middle. He lacks present strength to drive the ball with much power but is a strong fundamental hitter who is going to make solid contact and hit for ahigh average. No single tool stands out for Adams but he's a very smart player who does everything well and is a gamer. He is also an excellent student.
