Anthony Perez is a 2005 right handed pitcher from Hialeah, Florida, with a strong frame at 5'11", 200 lbs. Perez has a smooth and deliberate delivery, and throws from a 3/4 arm angle. He gets good tail on his fastball that topped out at 89 mph. Perez also throws a very good two-seamer with good arm side run. He has good command of his fastball and filled the zone with strikes. He also showed a tight slider at 76 mph, and he keeps good arm speed on the pitch. Perez maintained his velocity well during his three innings of work. Perez allowed a lead off single to Jemile Weeks, then held a good hitting team hitless. Perez looks to be an innings eater with pitchability, who is going to be very successful at the University of Miami. He is a very good student.

Anthony Perez -- Perez is 5-11 and a very solid 200 lb RHP. His stuff is dynamite and there are few pitchers in the 2005 class who can cut through a line up quicker than this polished Miami native. Perez has a very fast, whippy arm stroke off a balanced, simple delivery that generates an 85-88 mph fastball. He has a very advanced ability to cut or run the ball depending on his intent and he’s always around the strike zone. Perez’s strikeout pitch, and he gets plenty of strikeouts, is a 72-74 mph curveball that has a very hard, late break to it and if anything, he has better command of his curveball than his fastball. In case that’s not enough, Perez’s 74 mph change up is a potential average to plus pitch also. Anthony is an excellent student that every top D1 school in the country should covet.
