Matthew Hancock is a 2007 C/3B from Xavier HS in Old Lyme, CT, with a 6'1", 197 lb. frame. Matthew has a strong build that produced very strong workout results. At the plate Matthew shows good lift in a very aggressive swing. He hits from a high load and shows big power potential. Matthew is dangerous with mistake pitches and can go to all fields. Behind the plate Matthew has a very quick release and an accurate arm to produce solid pop times. Matthew is very athletic for a catcher and will intrigue many schools with his power potential.

Matt Hancock is a 2007 C/3B/1B from Xavier HS in Old Lyme, CT, with a 6'1'', 190 lb. frame. He has a strong build with a durable looking catcher's body. Hancock threw 72 mph during catching drills with a best pop time of 2.03. He has some quickness in his exchange but a long arm action that could be shortened. He has an excellent approach to catching defensively with hustle and the ability and willingness to block the ball. Hancock is a 7.32 runner, good for his size and position, and that quickness shows in his defense. Offensively, Hancock has a rock back load and good rhythm into the ball with balance and flexed knees. His swing can get a bit long but he showed raw bat speed and the ability to make adjustments to the ball. He gets very little of his strong lower half into his swing at present and there's lots of untapped power potential waiting to be used. Hancock gives the impression of being a raw physical talent at the plate with strength and athletic ability that could make him a very good hitter down the road. He has the physical ability to hit and hit with power at the next level. Without knowing anymore about his background, this looks like a "sleeper" type of talent to us. Keep a close eye on him, Hancock could be a good one!

Matthew Hancock is a 2007 catcher/third baseman from Old Lyme, Connecticut, with a good athletic frame at 6'1", 175 pounds. He hits from a balanced stance with a short stride and a slight weight shift into contact. He has a line drive swing plane with good rotation and a balanced finish. He showed bat speed with a contact approach and he sprayed line drives to all fields. He ran a 5.21 home to first. Defensively, he showed good actions with a quick transfer. He has an advanced set-up for his age with a good feel for the position. He showed very good arm strength at 73 mph from an over the top arm slot, and he popped an impressive 1.97. He is a young player with good skills. Matthew is definitely a player to watch for the future.

Matthew is a very young '07 C/IFer with a 6-1/170lb body from Old Lyme, CT who has some maturing ahead of him. His body is big and strong for his age with projection to it. Behind the plate he shows some promise with good feet and a quick release. His POP time is 2.20 at 65mph which is not bad for his age and will get much better as he matures. At the plate he hits from a wide base with good hands and flashes gap-to-gap power. He shows a love for the game and a desire to play it. This is one to follow closely the next few years as he matures. He has a chance to be very good.
