West Tunnell is a 2012 MIF with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Anthem, AZ who attends Boulder Creek HS. Lean athletic build, projectable with wiry strength. High level defensive tools, very quick release, accurate throws with good carry, ball appears to be coming out of release harder than throwing velocity suggests. High energy player all the way around, smart aggressive all around approach. Good decisions at the plate and on the bases, anticipates well, high baseball IQ is very evident in all phases. Spread stance, stiffer lower half prevents using strength for power, hard line drive approach, solid bat speed, chance to develop. Battles well with two strikes, makes good adjustments during ABs, good instincts on bases. Raw tools are good, but feel for the game/makeup stands out most of all, has shown rapid development over past year and a half. Excellent student. Signed with Baylor.
