Michael Johnson is a 5'9" 150 pound 2007 middle infielder and outfielder from Naples, Florida who attends Gulf Coast High School. He has a lean build that is athletic and strong. Michael has an inside out swing with a good opposite field approach. He is a line drive hitter who makes consistent contact with the ball. He keeps his weight back very well and has an effortless smooth swing. Johnson has nice hands and feet in the field. He has a good quick release and transfer with a strong arm which he showed by throwing 83 mph across the infield. Michael also piched and threw from a 3/4 arm slot. His arm works very well and he gets a good downwoard plane on his pitches. His fastball topped out at 79 mph with good arm side run and his change up was at 73 mph and had good sink on it. He is a low effort pitcher who uses a drop and drive delivery. Michael is a solid all around athlete with very good potential. He is a good follow for the 07 class and is a very good student as well with a 3.6 gpa.

Michael Johnson is a 2007 middle infielder from Gulf Coast HS in Naples, FL, with a 5'9", 145 lb. frame. He has a lean and athletic body with more strength to come. Defensively he has very nice body control and has very good range, especially to his glove side. His hands are soft and he gets in good position to make all the plays, and has solid arm strength with on-line throws. At the plate he is a left handed hitter with a quick bat. His swing is smooth and effortless with a line drive swing plane. Johnson handles the pitch low in the zone very well, and has deceptive strength in his swing. He hits the ball with authority on a line and stays balanced throughout his swing. He looks very comfortable in the box, and looks like a solid top of the order hitter at the next level. On the mound he is an aggressive pitcher with an easy and clean arm action. His fastball topped out at 79 mph with some late life, and he mixes in a curveball at 71 mph. He can spin the breaking ball and it has sharpness at times. Johnson is a must follow, and is a very good student as well.
