LHP Michael Wilson (Pickering, ON, Canada): Wilson is a 6-6 left hander with an excellent athletic body. He was primarily 83-84 mph in Cedar Rapids from a high ¾’s to overhand release point that gives him very good downhill plane to the plate. He also threw a big downer 68 mph curveball and a 71-73 mph change up. We have seen Wilson throw a bit harder, but we keep expecting to see 90 or better. He will create draft interest, but if he does end up at Michigan where he has committed, he could blossom into an early pick.

Wilson is a 2005 LHP from Pickering, ON, Can with a big, strong 6'5"/205 pound frame. He has a great pitchers body with long arms and legs. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a controlled delivery and hides the ball well. He stays on top of his pitches and throws downhill, proving very effective low in the zone. His fastball topped out at 86 mph with good late life. He throws a sharp breaking 1-7 curveball at 74 mph. His change-up was 75 mph with good sink and tailing action. He has great command of all his pitches and he is a very tough competitor on the hill. His best is yet to come. He is an oustanding prospect and an excellent student. One of the very best prospects in Canada this year.

Michael Wilson: Wilson is a 6-5 junior left hander from Ontario with a very big upside. He has loose athletic actions, a smooth, tension free arm stroke and the ball leaves his hand clean and very easily. Wilson pitched in the 84-86 mph range and there is no doubt that he’s going to be at 90 mph before long. Wilson’s curveball was big and sharp at 69-71 mph and he also threw a 75-76 mph change up that had some sinking and tailing action. About the only thing this big Canadian didn’t do was command his pitches well but athletically and mechanically there is no reason why he shouldn’t be able to do so in the future. 6-5 left handers who throw 90 mph get lots of attention and that’s what Wilson is going to get by the time he’s a senior. Michael is a very good student with a very bright future in baseball. He's ranked the #1 "05" in Canada.
