Henderson is a 5-11, 175 lb left handed outfielder from Virginia with good present strength. He's also a prospect as a left handed pitcher. As a player, Henderson ran a 7.46 60 and threw 80 mph during outfield drills. He really excelled during the showcase games, getting good jumps on fly balls and line drives and closing quickly on balls. He also made some strong throws to the bases. We've seen Henderson play first base in the base and he was very smooth and talented at that position as well. At the plate, Henderson has a strong fundamental swing and the ball jumps well on contact. Henderson is a line drive hitter who is going to hit for a high average and pick up some extra base hits because of his strength. We also like Henderson as a pitcher. He throws 4 pitches with command. His fastball topped out at 81 mph and his best pitch was a 72 mph slider that was very sharp at times. Henderson is a nice all around player who can do a lot of things very well on the baseball field. He is also an outstanding student.

Mike Henderson is a 2006 left handed first baseman from Chesapeake, Virginia, with good overall athletic ability and good present strength. He ran 7.57 in the 60, but was 4.41 down to first on a ground ball and showed very good quickness and balance on defense at first base. Henderson hits from a limited load approach, and gets very little use of his lower half in his swing. He still has the hand quickness and upper body strength to generate good bat speed with wood, and he showed some pop on a couple of occasions to right centerfield. More lower half involvement and some rhythm in his swing would enable his power potential to blossom, but Henderson looks like the type of hitter who can do some damage with metal bats anyway. Henderson also looked like the type of player who plays hard and knows how to play.
