Hernandez is a slender 6-3 junior left handed pitcher from south Florida. He has long legs and loose actions. Hernandez throws from low ¾’s release point with a long, flowing arm action in back and some cross body deception out from. The ball comes out of his hand pretty easily. Hernandez’s fastball was 79-82 mph with good running action to it. His best pitch was a 71 mph change up that was a top level pitch at times. Hernandez gets great deception on this pitch and very good sinking action. His breaking ball was a big sweeping 65-66 mph curveball that you’d expect to see from that release point. Hernandez had very good pitchability and was in control on the mound with all three pitches working. He should throw harder in the future and has a chance to become a very nice prospect. Hernandez is also a good student.
