Nicholas Navarro is a 2007 C/1B with a 6'0'', 185 lb. frame from Pembroke Pines FL, who attends Flanagan HS. He has done a very good job firming up his body in the last 6 months or so and looks strong and quick and in great shape. In fact, Navarro's who game looks like it's in great shape. Defensively he looked much quicker and faster. His pop times have gone from the 2.10 area to a best of 1.88 and he had no wasted motion on his throws at all and they were very accurate. Navarro won't win any races running in a straight line but he shifts and moves quickly and does a solid job receiving. His strength has always been his bat and that was consistent at the event. Navarro is a legit switch hitter with good bat speed from both sides. He's shorter and quicker from the right side, with more lift and power potential from the left side. He has balance and leverage on contact from both sides and has been a consistent run producer with wood in numerous events over the past two years. Navarro is obviously working hard to improve his game and the results are showing. Keep a close eye on him. Navarro is a good student who has signed with Samford.

Nicholas Navarro is a 2007 switch-hitting catcher from Flanagan HS, residing in Pembroke Pines, FL. He has a stock, compact body type on a 5'11" 185 lb. frame. Navarro is a gamer type that clearly loves to play and is the type that can energize a team. Switch-hitting catchers are generally players that get watched quite closely and the more you watch him, the more you realize that he positively impacts a game at some point, whether offensively or defensively, or with passion. From the right side he hits from a square stance with what looked like a pull approach in BP. However, in the games he continually hit the ball up the middle, perhaps because he was getting pitched away and with his plate coverage his swing path took those balls up the middle. In any case, he got a number of hits in an event when not a lot of hitting was done. From the left side he also showed a pull approach early but executed hitting the ball up the middle from that side as well. He showed more pop from the left side. As he got more and more ABs, his timing kept getting better. As a defensive catcher, Navarro has catch/throw skills that can be effective. He threw 2.09 to 2B in one game and was accurate. His raw arm strength is approaching average ini terms of velocity out of his hand. He looked like he anticipates attempted steals well and understands the game, a quality thing for a catcher. Navarro is also a vocal leader type of player. His game is more suited at this point for college baseball and he should have an opportunity to play D1 ball, possibly beyond after college.

Nicholas Navarro is a 2007 C/1B/3B from Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines, Fl, with a 5'11'', 185 lb. frame. Was named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. Defensively he has solid arm strength behind the plate, and his throws are consistently on the bag. Navarro has soft hands and receives the ball well. His exchange and footwork are good on his throws down to second base, and he is a solid defensive catcher behind the plate. At the plate he is a switch hitter with strength in his swing from both sides. Navarro has very strong hands and shows good power to the middle of the field. He has good bat speed through the zone and makes consistent line drive contact. Navarro uses the whole field showing adjustability with his hands and should hit for a good average. He has projectable power that may make him a run producer at the next level. Navarro has good upside, and is a very good student as well.

Nicholas Navarro: Navarro is a 5-11 switch hitting sophomore catcher from Florida with a sturdy, strong body that doesn’t have much projection. He threw 72 mph in catcher’s drills with a best pop time of 2.09. Navarro has similar hitting mechanics from each side of the plate, with high hands and a slightly open stance. He tends to pull off the ball a bit left handed and has smoother, more well balanced swing from the right side with a line drive swing plane. Navarro's strength helps him at the plate and he should continue developing his power. Navarro is an excellent student.
