Richardson is a 6'4" 185 pound 2006 lefthanded pitcher who can also play fist base and outfield. He is from Santee, California and attends Westhills High School. He is tall lean and athletic with long arms and legs and room to fill out. He is very slow and deliberate to his balance point and very deceptive with a loose quick arm. Aaron throws from a 3/4 arm slot with lots of effort and likes to attack hitters. He throws strikes with his fastball which tops out at 82 mph and is very heavy. His curveball is a very good pitch at 69 mph and is very tight and hard. He is also an accomplished hitter as well. Richardson has some good power and drives the ball to his pull side. He is short to the ball and has some looseness. He also has a good idea on how to hit and has a good swing with good balance and bat speed. In the outfield, Aaron showed good reads and energy. He threw 82 mph from the outfield in the workout.

Aaron Richardson is a 2006 LHP/OF/1B from Westhills HS in Santee, CA, with a 6'3", 185 lb. frame. Richardson is a tall, lean, and athletic two-way player with very good tools. On the mound he has an effortless delivery with a higher leg kick. His arm is smooth and easy with very good arm speed, and is lower half stays controlled and balanced. His fastball topped out at 84 mph with some arm side life, but his overhand curveball is his best pitch. His curveball topped out at 72 mph with a 12 to 6 break and it has very good depth. Richardson gets on top of the pitch well and shows good control of it. Richardson struck out 5 hitters in his 2 2/3 innings of work, and he is very projectable with more velocity to come. Defensively he has good actions in the outfield with present arm strength and on-line throws with good accuracy. At the plate he is a left handed hitter with quiet hands and a slight leg lift in his swing. Richardson shows very good bat speed with good balance throughout his swing. He stays in on curveballs from left handed pitchers and keeps his front side closed. He has good hands and can make adjustments, and he has projectable power. Richardson is a two-way talent that needs to be followed closely.

Richardson is a primary left handed pitcher from Southern California who we like as a potential outfield prospect. He has an above average athletic 6-3/175 body that is very projectable and is very young for a 2006 prospect. Richardson might look totally different by the time he’s a junior in college and adds some weight and strength. On the mound, Richardson threw 4 innings, using a high ¾’s to overhand release point that created good angle to the plate. He had good run on a 79-81 mph fastball. Richardson slowed his arm some on his 63-65 mph curveball but it had good spin and some bite. Richardson got cuffed around a bit in his first inning of work, allowing 5 straight hits, but settled down quickly and retired the final 9 hitters, 5 by strikeout. As a player, Richardson is also pure projection. He has good speed underway and covers a lot of ground in the outfield with his long legs. Richardson’s left handed swing has some whip and bat speed and should continue to develop as he matures. Richardson is a good student.
