Aziel Shea is a 2006 catcher with a 5'9'', 176 lb. frame from West Palm Beach, Florida, who attends Summit Christian High School. He is a strong player with good all-around skills. Defensively he has a very strong arm (79 mph) on his throws down to second base, and his quick feet and transfers help produce pop times consistently under 2.00 with a best time of 1.90. Shea has the ability to block balls in the dirt, and he shows soft hands and receives well. He is a very nice defensive catcher. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with an advanced approach and a good idea of what to do. There is strength in his swing and he gets good leverage at the point of contact. Shea uses the whole field showing the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field. He has a good eye and doesn't swing at bad pitches. Shea is a line drive hitter that will consistently hit the ball hard. He is a good student as well.

Shea is 5-8 right handed hitting catcher from Florida with very well developed strength. We saw him at a showcase last August and are impressed by the way that he’s continued to develop his game. Shea has calmed down his swing and his approach at the plate and is using his strength better. He showed power to all fields and good balance through the ball. Shea showed that his defensive skills have kept getting more polished as well. His arm strength is solid at 76 mph and he’s always been able to post pop times in the 1.90’s. Shea received the ball well in Fort Myers as well. This is a solid all around catcher who could contribute right away at the next level because of his physical maturity and developing game. Shea is a good student.

Aziel Shea is a 5'8" catcher from the 2006 class who lives in West Palm Beach, Florida, who traveled to Waco for the South Showcase. He has mature features and good present overall strength. Shea’s bat was pretty impressive. He has a simple limited load, no stride approach with an early weight shift forward, and showed very good hand strength and good quickness to the ball. Shea made consistent solid contact to all fields both in batting practice and in games, and the ball came off his bat hard. Defensively, Shea showed good arm strength and his pop times were consistently around 2.00.

Aziel is a catcher/pitcher who's future is probably behind the plate. He doesn’t have a real strong MLB type arm, but has some quickness and works hard behind the plate. He popped a 2.15 and is just an 06 grad. He needs more strength to swing the wood but it should come over the next 2 years. Just an 06, keep an eye on him.
