2004 Underclass National Showcase
Phil Rorabaugh -- Rorabaugh is a slender 6-0 junior right hander who threw 4 innings at the World Underclass. He has very good pitching skills and showed us some arm strength that could be improved by increased upper body strength. Rorabaugh threw his fastball from 80-83 mph and made up for a lack of movement on the pitch with precise command to both sides of the plate. His best pitch was a 65 mph curveball that had big, tight downer break to it. Rorabaugh’s change up at 70 mph also had very good quality and deception. This young man did an excellent job of mixing his speeds and locations and can probably cut his way through a high school lineup in very short order right now. If he gains a little more velocity and power to his pitches, the next level of hitters will endure the same fate. Rorabaugh’s a good student as well. Keep an eye on this RHP pitching prospect.
