Ricky Rossman is a 2007 1B/OF from Claremont, HS in La Verne, CA, with a 6'1", 180 lb. frame. Rossman was named to the top prospect team at the event, and was one of the best defensive first baseman at the showcase. He has good hands fielding, and can pick balls in the dirt. Good footwork gets him in great fielding position and he stays down well on the ball. He also has good arm strength for a first baseman. Offensively he hits from a slightly closed stance with a small stride and very good bat speed. Rossman has a line drive swing plane with strength in his swing. He shows present raw power and he gets great leverage in his swing. Rossman took an aggressive approach in the showcase games, and he can flat out hit. Rossman is a very good prospect with the bat and defensively and needs to be followed closely. He is also a very good student.
