Robby Salomon is a 2006 3B from Serra HS, residing in Woodside, CA, with a 6'0", 175 lb. frame. He has a strong, sturdy build, with room to add more muscle and carry it well. With Salomon, it is pretty simple; he can hit and he plays excellent defense. He hits from a slightly open stance and has a sound approach to hitting. He has an excellent hand path, good bat speed, and excellent timing to the ball. All of that starts and is accessed because his lower half works so well, putting him in excellent position to start his swing on each pitch. Salomon has strong hands and a good trigger, ready to hit on each pitch. He stays inside the ball well and hits both the fastball and breaking ball. With current gap power and more future power, Salomon looks to be a five-hole type run producer. He recognizes pitches well and because he is ready to hit early, he is able to jump on mistakes. At 3rd base he has soft, sure hands and good lateral range, due to a good first step and angles. His arm is strong and accurate with a quick release when he needs to unload in a hurry. He sets up to the ball well and stays low as he catches the ball and makes his throw. Salomon works down to up so even on tough hops he can keep the ball in front of him and give himself a chance to knock the ball down and make a good strong throw. Salomon play the full game. He is above average on offense and defense and is only going to get stronger and add more polish to his game. He is currently a Top 50 program type D1 prospect and will be a steal for a program in the late signing period.
