Robert Yaussy is a left handed pitcher/first baseman from Houston, TX, with a tall thin frame with long legs and high waist and a wiry build at 6-3 175 lbs. He pitches from a ¾ arm slot with a long arm action. His delivery was upright and showed upper body stiffness but it was very repeatable. His fastball was 77 mph with occasional arm side run. His curveball was a big breaking pitch with 1-7 action and decent depth at 65 mph. He also showed a changeup at 66 mph. He hits with a slightly open stance and uses a front foot trigger. He swings with a contact approach and a line drive swing path. He has a very projectable body and a good knowledge of how to pitch. Robert is a good student.

Yaussy is a very slender and projectable sophomore left handed pitcher from Texas who is starting to make a habit of just abusing hitters at Perfect Game showcases. He has pitched 7 innings for us in the last 6 months (3 at the South Underclass, 4 in Fort Myers) and has retired 21 straight hitters, 18 of them by strikeout. Even if the PG rules allowed walks at showcases, it’s doubtful if Yaussy would have allowed a walk, either. Yaussy picked up some velocity between the two events but is still just beginning to grow into his 6-3 frame. He was consistently 76-78 mph in Fort Myers with good running action. Yaussy’s 68 mph change up is an excellent pitch, with very good sinking movement and deception and his 62-64 mph curveball gets good spin and depth. All of Yaussy’s pitches move and he carves up the strike zone with mature precision. It wouldn’t surprise us to see Yaussy add 2-3 mph’s every 6 months for the rest of his high school career, which would put him at top, top prospect status by the time he’s a senior. High Ceiling Prospect!

Robert Yaussy is a very slender and thin 2007 left hander with a ton of projection from Houston, Texas. He has a loose left arm and good pitching mechanics for a 2007 prospect. Yaussy only topped out at 76 mph on his fastball, but he’ll throw much harder in the future. His curveball was 61-63 mph and had good sharpness and bite. Yaussy also had a 62 mph change up that he used effectively. He throws strikes with all three pitches and knows how to use them like a much older pitcher. You have to pay attention to results, even at a showcase, and Yaussy struck out 8 of the 9 hitters he faced, and the other hitter hit a jam shot dribbler to first base. If you ignore the present velocity, Yaussy does a lot of things very well and is just going to get better. Strong Follow!

Robert Yaussy -- Yaussey is a young freshman left hander from Texas with a slender and very projectable 6-2 body. Yaussey’s arm is loose and works well from a standard 3/4’s release point. He can really pitch but he doesn’t have the physical strength yet to throw extremely hard. His fastball was mostly 73-74 mph over 3 innings of work. Yaussey threw a curveball at 61-63 mph and also a 67 mph change up that he turned over well. Robert is a good student with a very bright future on the mound. In 3 years he should be throwing mid 80s or better.
